I got arrested for being on the scene, and then that time I got kidnapped and drugged? When I woke up, I was a murder suspect.

[Maya's face droops. It's always nice to find something in common with someone, but she usually opts for food or pop culture, not how many times have you been suspected for murder or kidnapped.]

[Kay frowns and rests a hand on Maya's shoulder.]

I'm actually wondering if I'm going to wind up walking into another dead body here.

[Maya pats Kay's hand gently as if to say she's sorry too - it's genuinely empathetic, despite the tired look on her face.]

Another dead... body? Uhhh. You mean someone who's come back to life? There are plenty of people here like that! And anyone who dies doesn't really... stay dead.

Wait, what?! [Her jaw drops. She no longer looks weary or exasperated.] You see dead people?

...I'm gonna see dead people? Walking around?

[She looks super serious now.]

They even look dead, too. They walk around with their flesh rotting away and their eyes barely there... Sometimes, I have to sleep with one eye open. It's like it's right out of a ghost story or a really overrated zombie TV show.

[Because Kay is new and still reeling from the revelation that she's no longer in Kansas - uh, I mean, Los Angeles, she wouldn't put it past this place to have zombies like in TV, the movies, and in memes.]

...Now I really don't want to run into a dead body here. More than ever. It's a good thing there's still a lot of people around.

I mean, overrated zombie TV shows usually only have a handful of normal living people running around trying to survive.

I wouldn't trust them if I were you! Some people may look like people, but they're actually dead.
